Slow Money Vermont Announces New Leadership
April 16, 2018
For Immediate Release
Longstanding chair, Eric DeLuca, passes the baton to Janice Shade, co-founder of Milk Money
Montpelier, VT,– Slow Money VT recently elected Janice Shade, co-founder of Milk Money to the position of Board Chair. With Milk Money VT’s Janice Shade taking on this leadership position, Slow Money VT is poised to further integrate its capacities for bringing together local impact investors and working lands entrepreneurs, and for providing unique learning opportunities, with the broader VT working lands economy.
Slow Money VT is a program of Vermont’s Farm to Plate Network and is run by an all-volunteer Organizing Team representing many of the state’s leading institutions that provide capital and other forms of support to Vermont’s farm, food and forestry businesses. Slow Money VT’s 2018 programming includes the annual Entrepreneur Showcase and the addition of grassroots outreach events to provide education and networking opportunities to prospective investors.
“I’ve really enjoyed working with this group of high-caliber, dedicated individuals over the past year and am excited to deepen my involvement with Slow Money VT,” says Shade. “It’s a logical extension of my work with Milk Money and I look forward to building on all the great work that the team has done to connect Vermont’s food system entrepreneurs with sources of capital to grow their businesses.”
After three years leading the evolution and growth of Slow Money Vermont, Eric DeLuca is transitioning leadership to Janice Shade. “Slow Money VT has strongly established itself since its 2014 launch,” says outgoing chair Eric DeLuca of Leverage Point Consulting. “The network’s development has been anchored by three annual VT Entrepreneur Showcases and complemented by special events such as the 2015 symposium: Investing in the New Economy–Investments for the Sake of Climate and Community, the 2016 Slow Money New England Regional Gathering, and the 2017 Local Impact Investing Education Series. Janice is the ideal leader to carry Slow Money VT forward. Her focus, skills, and network are perfectly aligned with Slow Money VT’s mission. She brings passion and know-how to the helm of an effective and generous team.”
DeLuca and Shade have been collaborating toward a smooth transition since her election. Slow Money VT is organized by a task force within the Financing Crosscutting Team of the Vermont Farm to Plate Network. DeLuca chairs that Crosscutting Team and will stay on in that capacity. The VT Farm to Plate Network is comprised of the 350+ organizations responsible for implementing Vermont’s food system plan.
